1. Project Progress
Our Empowering Girls with Sewing Machines initiative continues to make progress as we work towards giving vulnerable girls and young women practical vocational skills. The program currently targets 156 girls, including those facing difficult family circumstances, financial hardship, and the challenges of raising children as single mothers.
We have continued engaging with the girls to understand their needs, expectations, and commitment to vocational training. During our recent meetings, the girls expressed great enthusiasm and determination to participate in the program.
2. Training Plans
Following our discussions with the girls, we have developed a training plan for the first term of 2027, beginning in January. The training will introduce participants to basic sewing techniques, operating sewing machines, making clothes, repairing garments, and producing items that can generate income.
We currently have 10 sewing machines, but additional machines and training materials are needed to accommodate all 156 girls effectively.
3. Expected Impact
Through this initiative, we hope to:
- Equip 156 girls with practical sewing skills.
- Help vulnerable girls become financially independent.
- Support single mothers to establish sustainable livelihoods.
- Reduce poverty and dependence on others.
- Encourage girls to start small tailoring businesses after completing their training.
4. Challenges and Support Needed
Despite the girls' enthusiasm, limited financial resources remain our biggest challenge. We need additional sewing machines, fabrics, sewing materials, qualified trainers, and other training necessities to ensure that every participant receives adequate practical experience.
5. Way Forward
We remain committed to preparing the girls for the January 2027 training intake. We will continue mobilizing resources, engaging potential supporters, and preparing the necessary training arrangements.
We sincerely appreciate everyone supporting this initiative. Your generosity will help transform the lives of vulnerable girls by giving them skills, confidence, dignity, and an opportunity to build independent futures.
Together, we can turn their determination into opportunity and help them create a better future through vocational education.
