Dear Donors
1. Introduction
Karitas Relief Mission continues making progress in its initiative to empower vulnerable girls through vocational training in tailoring and garment making. The project aims to equip 156 girls with practical sewing skills that will enable them to become self-reliant, financially independent, and productive members of their communities.
2. Progress Made
We have continued engaging with girls who have expressed interest in joining the program. Several meetings have been held with the girls to understand their needs, explain the objectives of the initiative, and prepare them for vocational training.
Following our consultations, we have developed a training plan for the girls, with the intention of beginning the first training group in January 2027, during the first school term.
We have also identified additional girls who are interested in participating, demonstrating the growing demand for practical vocational skills among young women in the community.
3. Training Plan
The planned training will cover:
- Basic sewing machine operation and maintenance.
- Cutting and measuring fabrics.
- Making dresses, skirts, shirts, and school uniforms.
- Repairing and altering clothes.
- Basic business management and entrepreneurship.
The girls will receive practical, hands-on training to help them develop skills that can generate income in the future.
4. Current Challenges
Although the girls have demonstrated enthusiasm and commitment, limited financial resources remain a major challenge. We need additional sewing machines, fabrics, training materials, and support for qualified instructors to accommodate all 156 girls.
5. Next Steps
Karitas Relief Mission plans to:
- Mobilize resources to acquire additional sewing machines.
- Complete beneficiary registration and preparation.
- Recruit qualified vocational trainers.
- Begin the first training group in January 2027.
- Monitor the girls' progress and evaluate their skills.
- Support graduates to establish small tailoring businesses.
6. Expected Impact
Through this initiative, 156 vulnerable girls will gain practical vocational skills that can help them earn an income, support their families, and build independent futures. The project will also contribute to reducing poverty, unemployment, and economic vulnerability among young women.
7. Conclusion
We are encouraged by the positive response and commitment demonstrated by the girls. Although we still face financial challenges, preparations are progressing, and our determination to see these girls empowered remains strong.
We sincerely appreciate all our donors and partners who continue supporting our mission. Your generosity will help transform the lives of 156 girls by giving them skills, confidence, and hope for a better future.
