Well-being and oportunity: transforming lives in Medellín
At Fundación Juanfe, we understand that emotional well-being is the first step toward transformation. Teenage mothers come to us carrying stories of struggle, uncertainty, and deferred dreams. That is why our work begins from within, strengthening their mental and emotional health so they can make conscious decisions and build a future full of possibilities.
This year, we have supported 534 teenage mothers in Medellín, also impacting 2,136 of their children and family members. Through a comprehensive approach, we have seen depressive symptoms decrease from 29% to 13%, anxiety drop from 39% to 16%, and low self-esteem improve from 55% to 22%. These are not just statistics; they are a testament to the power of psychosocial support in healing wounds and rebuilding confidence.
Family and community support have been essential in this process. We conducted 493 home visits, building bridges between young mothers and their family realities to better understand their challenges and strengthen their support networks. Additionally, we organized 9 family workshops and 9 partner workshops, addressing critical topics such as gender-based violence, positive parenting, and social support systems. These interventions have helped create safe spaces where young mothers can express their emotions and receive the support they need.
None of this would be possible without the commitment of our allies and donors. Thanks to their support, we have provided these young mothers with access to technical training in high-demand fields, ensuring their inclusion in the formal labor market and equipping them with the tools needed for an independent and sustainable future. Through strategic partnerships with 165 companies, we have managed 493 job opportunities, paving the way for stability and growth.
Today, many of these young women are on the path to independence. But there are still hundreds more waiting for an opportunity to build a different future. With your support, we can continue offering education, guidance, and real opportunities to transform lives.
Donate today and be part of this transformation. Together, we are building a more equitable and opportunity-filled Medellín.
