Behind every young woman who walks through the doors of Fundación Juanfe in Medellín lies a past marked by pain—and a future beginning to be written with hope.
During the first semester of 2025, 876 teenage mothers began their transformation journey with us, directly impacting the lives of thousands of children and families across the region. Through our 360° Model—which integrates mental health, education, employability, and family support—we continue to build pathways toward autonomy and dignity.
The reality faced by many young women arriving at Juanfe reflects the heavy burden of inequality:
94% of their families survive on one minimum wage or less (USD 349), and more than half live in critical overcrowding conditions. Before beginning the program, mental health indicators were alarming—67% experienced depressive symptoms, 80% anxiety, 64% low self-esteem, and 32% suicidal ideation.
But when comprehensive support is offered, the results speak for themselves.
After a year and a half of psychosocial accompaniment, 40% of the young mothers have shown significant improvement in their emotional well-being. At Juanfe, we believe that healing is the first step toward progress.
In Medellín, healing also means caring.
At Juanfe, we accompany each mother as she rebuilds her emotional well-being while strengthening her role as a caregiver. We promote respectful and conscious parenting, where love, patience, and knowledge become tools for raising children with dignity and hope.
Today, 97% of our young women use a safe contraceptive method, and 90% have chosen long-term options. This decision not only protects their health but also empowers them to envision a future of autonomy and real opportunities for themselves and their children.
None of this would be possible without those who believe in real transformation—donors, corporate allies, and individuals who understand that investing in women is investing in development.
Today, Medellín stands as living proof of the power of mental health as a driver of social change. Every story of resilience reminds us that when a woman heals, she also heals her family, her community, and her future.
Donate today and become part of this story.
At Juanfe, we transform the world, one woman at a time.
