From time to time we see the impact stories from ground through our feedback forms. One of these wonderful Beneficiary's story is shared with you through this report.
A Story of Santosh......!!
My name is Santosh (Name Changed) and I am 67 years old. I belong to a community where girls and women are not allowed to go out of the house to work. My husband and only son died a few years back. Now I live with my daughter in law and her 6 children. We have no Man in the family who would earn for us. We didn’t had education or any skill which could get us a job and all the responsibilities were at me as I was the eldest in the family. I then heard about RSKS India’s Women SHG program in which low interest loans are provided to women who wanted to start their own employment for better livelihood.
I then called the RSKS team members and talked to women of my village who were interested to start their own employment and then the representatives of the organization came and heard our stories and then they said us that we could solve all our problems by little saving and a firm determination to start our own employment. They asked me and my daughter in law that what work we could do and we told them that we could do the dairy work but as it requires buffaloes to start and they are expensive so we are unable to do it now but then the team members told us that through the low interest loan, I could easily purchase buffaloes and start my dairy business. After some days the team members came daily and taught us about the banking activities and the importance of savings and then they provided me a low interest loan through which I was able to start my dairy business.
Today while staying at home I am able to easily take care of my family and bear all the expenses of our family. The grandchildren are going to school and all of their expenses too are met through my dairy business. I have so many regular customers from the village itself and I do not have to go anywhere, they all come to my house to take milk for their family. The milk from the buffaloes are also beneficial for me and my family members as most of them are the children and the children requires milk especially for strong bones. The dairy business has given me and my family a new life and all of this was possible only through the Women Self Help Group program of RSKS India. I have taken and repaid the micro loan for five times from year 2014 and have never defaulted on payments. Through the SHG, me and other SHG women are able to discuss our problems together and at this age it feels good when someone is there to listen to your problems. I have taught all the dairy activities to my daughter in law so that she could continue the business and earn for the children behind. I thank RSKS team and all the donors through which we were able to live a new life.
