Sharda's Dream Come True...
My name is Sharda (Name Changed) and I am 46 years old woman. I have seen many things changing in my life and the common were the problems but always of different types. When I was a child, I was not able to go to school and then I just had to do the household works and after my marriage, I was not allowed to go outside to work or to do anything else due to the conservative thinking of the society as well as of my family. Today I have 4 children and a husband with whom I live. My husband goes out many times as he is a truck driver and many times he is busy in travelling. I am the only one who takes care of the 4 children and the financial problems which I face daily is problem which is not going to solve as my husband do not earns much. He send us as much money as possible but still it is not enough to take proper care of the family of 5 members. My children would be requiring much more money as they are going to get higher studies but we do not know how it would be done. I have an urge to participate in as a financial contributor to the family but all I know is farming or household works.
My life had not been the same as earlier after meeting with the RSKS Team members while the discussion on the self help group. Many women from our village are part of the women self help group of RSKS India. Through this women self help group, me and some other women from my village were able to have low interest loan from which we were able to start our own employment. I always wanted to support my family financially but no one allowed me to do anything as they all felt that if I would start earning for the family then what would the society think but after meeting with the RSKS team members, the mentality of my family changed as they did 4-5 times consultation with my husband whenever he was here and then convinced him to let me work in the fields. I purchased different types of High Yield Seeds for the first time and I selected only those crops which would easily grow in our land and then I started doing farming. When the first time I got the results of my farming in the form of money then I continued to this work.
Now my husband has also left his truck driving as he had to take so much pain while doing that and have joined me in my farming business. I usually grow the crops/ vegetables which are in high demand in the city and then my husband takes all the vegetation which was grown at the fields to the city markets so that we could have a earning from there. My children are now getting their higher education without any problem and this is all possible due to the women self help group made my RSKS team members for the welfare of women like me. These groups surely empower a women and fulfil her dreams as now I am also helping my family financially and my contribution to the family has become more meaningful. I now also know about the banking activities as I have to visit bank many times to deposit my money in the bank which are my savings every month. This small amount of money which I am saving from my regular income would surely help me in the marriage of my children. I would like to thank RSKS India team for making my life more meaningful and my best wishes are always with them.
