Soar facilitators: girls' allies and role models

By Iman Zaoin | Communication & Development Assistant

Dear friends,

Project Soar is sending its gratitude to you, our supporters, and positive wishes for good health and happiness for you and your loved ones.

We're excited to share that Project Soar is thriving, currently running 40 squads across Morocco with 80 active Empowerment Facilitators. This year, we are especially grateful for the incredible work of our women facilitators as they lead the girls through our five-module Empowerment Curriculum.

Soar facilitators are not only invaluable allies in pursuing our mission to empower teen girls in Morocco to become the leaders of today and tomorrow, but they are also incredible allies and role models to the girls. Many of these facilitators have a deep personal connection to our cause, having experienced firsthand the challenges of living in an extremely patriarchal society. This shared experience allows them to establish a unique bond with the girls, built on trust and understanding.

At the heart of our work, empowerment facilitators ensure the girls' progress throughout our programs, while leading exciting initiatives and activities. This time, we're thrilled to share the remarkable work of our facilitators in Dakhla, our southernmost site in Morocco. Last December, Dakhla facilitators accompanied the girls to participate in a seminar titled 'How Can We Make Public Spaces Safe for Women?' organized by The Regional Coordination for National Cooperation in the Dakhla-Oued Ed-Dahab region. This initiative was part of a program dedicated to the International Days for the Elimination of Violence against Women and Girls. The seminar included the participation of key local and national figures such as the Regional Coordinator for National Cooperation, the Chairperson of the Regional Human Rights Committee, the Heads of Civil Society Associations and.. Soar Girls! In such events, facilitators play a crucial role in preparing the girls to speak confidently and comfortably. They also serve as vital intermediaries between the girls and their families; after all, parents would not entrust their daughters if they didn’t have confidence in the adults who accompany them.

A big shoutout to Soar facilitators, our most precious allies and the guiding companions of our girls as they take their first steps toward a brighter, more empowered future! And a special shoutout to You, our supporters, for your generous contributions to this campaign. Stay tuned for more stories from these incredible women, and never doubt you are making a difference!

Warmest regards,

Project Soar Team
