Hope and Autonomy for 10 Women Survivors
Project Summary
This project aims to restore dignity, safety, and economic independence to ten rural women who are survivors of sexual violence in Eastern DRC. It is built on three pillars: psychosocial support, tailored professional training, and financial assistance to start income-generating activities. The long-term goal is to foster sustainable autonomy and ensure the women’s full reintegration into their communities.
Context and Rationale
In rural areas of Eastern DRC, sexual violence affects thousands of women each year. According to a report published by Médecins Sans Frontières, more than 25,000 cases were recorded in 2023, and 17,000 new cases in the first five months of 2024.
Many survivors face stigma, social exclusion, extreme poverty, and a lack of resources to rebuild their lives or support their families.
In response to this urgent situation, our initiative offers direct and concrete solutions.
