Impact Report: Empowering Women through Recycling and Crafts

Dear GlobalGiving Donor,

We are pleased to share our report, where we highlight our ongoing commitment to empowering women through recycling and crafts. At MITZ, we work tirelessly to strengthen women emotionally, increase their productivity, and foster their independence, thus creating meaningful opportunities for them and their families through a sustainable approach.

Introduction

The MITZ Productive Development Training arises from the need to systematize the experience, maintaining institutional values of quality, empathy, integrity, responsibility, sisterhood, and reciprocity. In collaboration with the Colectiva de Artesanas de Chimalhuacán and other allied institutions, we seek to replicate the experience in the development of life skills and craft techniques, providing didactic tools to the Craft Masters and measuring the impact efficiently and systematically.

Overall Objectives

The overall objective of the program is to provide the necessary elements to the Craft Masters of the MITZ Foundation to implement the 11 technical training sessions for the integration of new artisans. The aim is to promote the identification of life skills and the empowerment of women with craft techniques in stapling and weaving, allowing them to generate fair, green, and gender-perspective incomes.

Specific Objectives

Standardize the training process in stapling and weaving techniques to replicate learning homogeneously in the communities where the MITZ Foundation works. Incorporate the strengthening of life skills of the participants in a cross-cutting manner. Systematize and monitor the training experience. Products

As a result of the training, a Training Manual on craft techniques and didactic material has been developed, designed, printed, and used in the training of new MITZ artisans.

Results

8 Craft Masters have been trained in the homogeneous training of knowledge in craft techniques (stapling and weaving), as well as in facilitating activities focused on strengthening life skills. Over 180 women in vulnerable situations, including those in urban and rural areas, deprived of liberty, and from the LGTBI+ community, are undergoing training for the generation of green, fair, and gender-equitable incomes. Partnerships have been established with various institutions, such as the Penitentiary Labor Directorate, Origen Foundation, Committed with an Angel Foundation, and Edificando Sueños Foundation, for the realization of training activities. 13 groups have been formed, with approximately 20 participants each, in various communities, where the Productive Development Training Manual is used. A potential 50% increase in the MITZ Artisan Community is expected. Conclusions

As we expand and add more women to our program, we are committed to continue empowering through recycling and crafts. Training not only provides economic opportunities but also promotes self-esteem and personal development for the participating women. With the support of donors like you, we will continue to transform lives and communities.

Thank you for your generosity and ongoing support.

My name is Irene (in the center, wearing a light brown short-sleeved blouse and a long skirt), I am a craft master, and it is an extremely exciting experience to be part of this group. I feel like a part of a community that shares knowledge and skills with other women. Knowing that I can contribute to more women generating extra income is very gratifying because I know how much that can mean. Personally, this opportunity allowed me to contribute financially to my home without neglecting my children. It's a path that has made a big difference in my life and that of my family.
