It is a very busy season in Zeze. Currently it is dry and dusty, but everyone is getting ready for when the rains arrive next month and then they can plant.
Mboni ya Vijana has been busy nurturing seedlings - a wide range of fruit and vegetables - ready to plant as soon as the rain comes. Watering them is challenging at this time of year, with long queues at the pump as the rivers dry out.
We have so far dug 9 more bore holes in the surrounding villages and made 9 rope pumps to go with them, but still the demand for water is high. We are hoping to continue to dig more wells as soon as we raise the funds.
Another plan is to trial a new solar irrigation system that we have heard very good reports of. Such technology could make a huge difference in our plans to feed the village.
Our fish farm is now dug and lined, ready to fill with water and fish. Hopefully next report we will be able to show you some photos of fish and how they are improving the diet here in Zeze.
Thank you again for your support, it is very much appreciated by everyone in Zeze.
