Hello from India, I am Jyotsna, living in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. I had a very beautiful family life, husband and two children. I was so happy, but suddenly the life was completely changed. I could not forget that day and that accident. It was very painful to describe even. But, my family make me strong enough to live with that accident, and it has become a part of life. I was travelling with family in Indian Railways one day. We had a very good time in the joruney. I slilpped down while getting off from the train, and my both lower limbs were crushed under train wheels. I was unconscious, taken to the hospital. When I regained consciousness, I found out that both my legs had been amputated. I was in deep grief, and shock. I thought many times to commit suicide, as I was not able to perform any household work, dependent on others, and had fear in mind that I would not be able to stand and walk again. But my family, friends and relatives always supported me, encouraged me. One day, we came to know about Blind People's Association and their services for artificial limbs. We met the concerned official, and took their guidance. They were so warmful, and helping. I also told them our financial constraint, they assured me that they would give me high quality artificial limb with the support of donors. They did the measurement and proper assessment, and told me they would call me once they find a donor who would sponsor my artificial limb. Then, there was Covid19 Pandemic, and lockdown. I was scared, lost the hope that I would get my artificial leg, I could stand and walk again. But, as there was unlocking declared, the Official of BPA gave me very good news that they found a donor and agreed to sponsor my artificial legs. I was so happy, and felt heartfelt gratitude of Donors who has not given me a leg, but new life with full of confidence, joy. I thank Donors, and Blind People's Association for their support.
We request you to help us to reachout more people like Jyotsna who have been waiting for their articial limbs, hearing aids, Smart Cane, and other assistive devices that enable and empower them.
Thanking you
With Best Wishes
