Dear Donors, Well-Wishers, and Friends,

Greetings from BPA!

We are delighted to share with you the latest progress report of our Assistive Devices Project for Persons with Disabilities.

We have recently introduced a transformative device for persons with blindness—the AI Smart Glass. This is a simple spectacle fitted with a camera that works through a mobile application and the internet. The glass enables persons with blindness to live more independently and confidently by assisting them in their daily activities such as:

  • Shopping independently
  • Reading printed documents in multiple regional and international languages
  • Identifying local and international currency
  • Describing surroundings, including people present in a room, objects, and even colors

This innovative device has truly changed lives. Earlier, such smart glasses cost nearly USD 300, making them unaffordable for most. Now, with advancements in artificial intelligence and technology, they are available in India for just USD 20–30.

Let us share the inspiring story of Rahul, a young man with congenital blindness. Rahul loves reading books, magazines, and newspapers, but many are not available in Braille. He often relied on others to read for him and describe his environment. He dreamed of travelling alone, shopping independently, and identifying the colours of clothes he wanted to wear. When Rahul received the AI Smart Glass, his dream became reality. Thrilled, he said, “I am delighted with this AI Glass. It enables me to do what I always wished—to work like any other sighted person and level the playing field.”

Our vision is to provide these AI Smart Glasses to students with disabilities, especially those pursuing higher education, graduation and post-graduation. We believe this will empower them to pursue their aspirations with independence and confidence.

We kindly request you to share this initiative with your friends, family, colleagues, and like-minded individuals. Your small action can change the lives of students who are blind
