Standing With Youth to End Child Marriage

By Ugbede-Ojo Dominic Kadiri | Project Leader

Dear donors, thank you for your donation and for standing with young people who deserve safety, education, and a voice. Your support gives hope to girls and boys facing pressure that no child should ever endure.

This project is necessary because child marriage and teen pregnancy remain common in many parts of Nigeria. Too many girls are married off before they understand their rights or finish school. Some are forced into unions with much older men, leading to early pregnancy, health risks, and lifelong hardship. In crowded public schools and urban slums, clear information about sexual health is limited, and harmful traditions are rarely challenged. Without early action, these practices continue from one generation to the next.

The Youth Summit is designed to address this problem at its roots. It brings teenagers together in a safe learning space where they can speak openly, learn from peers, and build confidence. Through guided discussions, role plays, and group work, young people learn about their rights, healthy relationships, and how to protect themselves and others. Participants are trained to speak up in their schools and communities, share correct information, and support girls at risk. An SMS hotline will also allow young people to report danger signs and seek help quickly.

At this time, the funds raised so far are not enough to begin the summit activities. Venue costs, training materials, facilitator support, and the setup of the SMS system all require full funding to ensure the program is safe and effective. While we are not yet able to start, your early support is vital. It shows trust in this mission and encourages us to keep building toward full implementation.

With continued support, this project can help keep girls in school, delay early pregnancy, and give young people the power to protect one another and shape a safer future.

With regards,
Ugbede-Ojo Dominic Kadiri
