Sanchita's family, belonging to a nomadic and denotified tribe, migrated from their rural village to the city in search of better livelihood opportunities. With nine family members relying on her father's income as a skilled welder, their situation was challenging.
When Sanchita first encountered our partner organisation's team, she crucial life skills, didn't have access to menstrual hygiene practices and career guidance. As the first in her family pursuing higher education, she lacked exposure to these essential topics.
Through our partner's continuous efforts in organising life skills sessions, menstrual hygiene workshops and career guidance programmes, Sanchita's perspective began to shift. She became an advocate for menstrual health, sharing her knowledge with other adolescent girls, family members and friends.
Recognising Sanchita's interest in computer skills, our partner supported her in completing a certified computer course, overcoming the financial barriers her family faced. This opportunity has expanded her horizons and boosted her confidence.
Having recently completed her 12th standard exams, Sanchita now aspires to pursue a course in hotel management. Her dream is to establish the best hotel in her state!
Sanchita's journey highlights the importance of empowering young people from marginalised communities with knowledge, skills, and opportunities. Your support enables us to continue reaching out to youth like Sanchita, helping them overcome barriers and pursue their dreams.
Together, we're creating a future where every young person, regardless of their background, has the chance to flourish and contribute to their community's development.
Thank you so much for your vital support.
