Pooja is in Year 7 and lives with her family in difficult circumstances. Her father begs for a living and her mother cares for their four children at home. Even with these challenges, Pooja has always been bright, determined and eager to learn. Her father, though never able to attend school himself, quietly hoped his daughter might one day become a lawyer.
That dream started to feel closer when Pooja was selected by her school to take part in an exposure visit organised by Nirman. During career guidance sessions and talks with professionals, she learned about the legal system and how the law can be used to fight for justice. It lit a spark in her. She began to see that this could be more than a dream. It could be a goal.
Since then, Nirman has offered Pooja ongoing support through sponsorship and mentoring. She’s been able to meet role models working in law and receive guidance that helps her understand what it takes to get there. With each step, her confidence grows.
Pooja’s journey shows just how powerful it can be when someone is given the chance to believe in themselves. With the right support, even a child from the most difficult background can start to imagine a new future.
