Dear donors,
We are deeply thankful for your interest in supporting efforts to protect women and girls in Nigeria. Your attention to this issue brings hope for safer communities.
Female genital mutilation (FGM) and sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) remain widespread in Nigeria. UNICEF estimates nearly 20 million women have undergone FGM, and 3 in 10 girls experience sexual violence before age 18. In many rural and religiously diverse communities, silence, stigma, and cultural justifications prevent open discussion and allow harmful practices to continue. Survivors often have no safe place to speak out.
This project will organize inter-religious dialogue workshops with Christian and Muslim faith leaders, youth groups, and women’s associations. Workshops will address the health, legal, and social risks of FGM and SGBV, equipping faith leaders to advocate for change within their congregations. Survivor voices will be included, creating safe spaces for discussion and healing while encouraging collective community action to stop these harmful practices.
At present, no donations have been received, and we are actively seeking support to launch the workshops and reach communities where intervention is urgently needed.
To our future donors, thank you for considering contributing. Your support can help protect girls, empower survivors, and transform communities through dialogue and education.
With thanks,
Ugbede-Ojo Dominic Kadiri
