HIV/AIDS--Displaced Families in NW Region Cameroon

By Ma Comfort, Ma Celine and Ni Gideon | President and Board Chairperson

Greetings;

Happy New Year to all of our sponsors and contributors.

As we begin a new year we are hoping for the best as we have had to survive many and various conditions since we have been the subjects of an ongoing war against the people from the English speaking NW Region of Camerooon.

We wish to state that we are grateful and humbled by the support that you have been providing for us here in Cameroon.

Please note that due to the displacement of our people because of the ongoing war, we have not been able to keep up with the demand for good quality medical support for our families who are having to deal with the affect of HIV/AIDS in the NW Region.

We do not have specific data, however it has been reported that there has been a significat increase in the spread of HIV/AIDS among the families and members of the English speaking displaced families in Cameroon, Africa due to the living conditions  in which they have had to survive. There is no relief in sight!

Desperately needed medical suppplies have not been forth coming to the area or to areas where these families have taken refugee to avoid being killed.  Displaced families and others have been warned not to go into these areas that we represent for no reasons due to the fact that they will be placing their lives at risk.

We are committed to work with over 200 displaced families from the NW Region in Cameroon, Africa.  We are striving to put together a container that we may be able to bring some relief by provinding a variety of medical supplies, food and personal care items for victlims who are settling in other areas including hiding out in the jungles.

The current situation for our displaced families are desparate and they can use any and all support from our friends and supporters.  Without this support, the number of victims will increase!

Currently  HIV/AID project shows there have been an increase in the spread of HIV/AID due to the displacement of families from their homes, villages and communities due to the effects of the ongoing war in the NW/SW areas in Cameroon.

Because families have been displaced they have not been able to seek proper medications and medical care.  Recently we received a request for medical supplies, personal care items and food for our population who are suffering the impact of being displaced.  We are in the process within the next 90 days to raise funds in order to be able to send a container of these requested supplies to Cameroon, Africa.

Because of the ongoing conflict directed at families in the Meta, NW Region in Cameroon, volunteers have been told by the State Department to try and stay away from this area at this time.  Hopefully, if we can supply medical supplies, personal care items and food, it would be distributed to displaced families who are on the run and who have settled temporarily in other area in Cameroon or who are living in refugee camps in other areas of Africa.

We will continue to work with other agencies and organizations to help reduce the impact of HIV/AID in Cameroon, Africa.
