Greetings To Our Donors and Supporters;
Our sincere appreciation and thank you for the support and money that you have provided to us in order for our HIV/AID's Team to continue to make progress providing awareness and support for members and volunteers in our organization villages and communities despite the on-going civil unrest in our English speaking NW Region in META, it is being reported by medical facilities who have limited funds and services that the impact of HIV/AIDS continue to impact our villages and communities, especially among our youth and teenagers who have limited opportunities to get employment and attend school because of the crisis.
Medical support and attention is almost none existing due to the crisis and lack of money to pay for medication and services. It is also reported that many of the individuals especially the youth are unaware that they even have HIV/AIDSd and do not themselves seek medical attention. The least thing that we have been able to do is to try and get pastors and leaders to continue to share awareness of HIV/AIDS to their groups especially to their youths.
Keep in mind that it is very difficult to get to individuals in the English speaking NW Region because of constant lock downs and ghost days and closing of roads leading to the villages and communities and the limited medical centers in the area. The biggest concern of our volunteers is our personal security and safety. Kidnapping and ransom is the major topic in the area led by a group of rebels which is making it almost impossible for individuals to seek or receive any kind of medical attention or support. despite lack of money to pay for medication and services. Our hospitality committee has been able to provide some limited funds for medication.
However despite threats from the rebels to our volunteers we are still focused on using our creative talents and skills to continue to work with our people in the field to provide as much information or services as possible in this limited environment using word of mouth, the internet and by phone. Connectivity and Internet black outs are very common as well during this Civil crisis.
We are most grateful that we were blessed that 12 members of our volunteers organization were inducted into the International Rotary Club which will give up hope and support to assist us in developing programs that will help us to alleviate some seriour medical problems; especially in dealing with HIV/AIDS.
We have a serious need to find resources that will help up provide anti-viral drugs that will allow victims to live and function in society without affecting others and spreading HIV/AIDS. We are grateful for this opportunity to be able to work with this group which has a long standing reputation for alleviating diseases such as polio in third-world countries.
Kind Regards
HIV/AIDS Commitee
