Hello friends!
I hope you are all well, healthy, and finding ways to enjoy the beautiful world that we live in. It feels like every time we speak, there are new things happening in the world that are difficult to deal with.
So instead, let me share with you the amazing, positive things we have been doing at Aura Freedom that contribute to making a better, more equitable future! These are things that we could not do without your continued support; you make everything we do at Aura Freedom possible. Thank you.
We have been busy conducting virtual and in-person workshops around Ontario for frontline workers, youth, community members, etc., and for organizations like FCJ Refugee Centre, the Canadian Centre for Victims or Torture, and the Equal Futures Network to name a few. During these presentations, as always, we share insight into human trafficking, what it looks like in Canada, warning signs, vulnerable and protective factors, where to get help, and so much more. This is information that is critical to the creation of a healthy, equitable future, and we are grateful to have you along with us for the journey.
We also presented at Equal Futures 2022: Gender Equality Summit. Here, our Community Engagement Coordinator and Project Manager, Tashin Rodoshi, and our Research and Policy Analyst and Project Manager, Orlaith Croke-Martin, discussed our Human Trafficking Info Hub, how it came to be, various aspects of the hub, why it is important, and more. In doing so, Tashin spread awaress and understanding of human trafficking to all in attendance, as well as increased access to anti-human trafficking information.
Our Executive Director, Marissa Kokkoros, spoke on the financial podcast 'What Would it Cost' about all things human trafficking. This is especially important because it provides an opportunity to reach new audiences in the financial, private, and corporate sectors who may not even know trafficking occurs in Canada.
Marissa was also interviewed by Global News Regina, where she highlighted human trafficking in Canada. Again, this was an amazing opportunity to bring attention to real human trafficking facts, without sensationalizing the information. It is through opportunities like this that we are able to educate more people on what human trafficking really looks like and how people can get support.
Thank you for coming along this journey with us. We wouldn't be able to do this work without people like you who make it all possible. No matter how small the contribution may seem, the impacts are far reaching.
We are grateful for you and the future you are making possible.
In solidarity,
