Hello, Changemakers!
A new year is in full force, and with this new year has come new changes, developments, and projects for Aura Freedom. That being said, one thing that hasn’t changed is our dedication to ending human trafficking - and you continue to enable us to work towards this mission!
We are so grateful for the opportunities you are providing as we seek to continue to address the root causes of gender-based violence and human trafficking. We know how prevalent and impactful these are in our own communities - and your contributions allow us to give rise to a safer, more equitable future.
We are continuing to prepare to deliver more exciting workshops to frontline workers, youth, community members, and other agencies. Not only that, we recognize how ever-changing this work is: how to best inform and educate the community changes, the statistics and research on human trafficking changes, the ways in which trafficking occurs changes. Because of this, we are committed to continuing to seek the latest expertise and knowledge in order to provide comprehensive and up-to-date training and education. An example of this is hosting a Survivor Consultation with some amazing survivors of human trafficking, whose insight will inform and improve current and future projects. Your support makes this possible - it moves our work forward and through that, moves our impact and reach forward.
To close out our year, we participated in a panel for the National Day of Remembrance and Action to Stop Violence Against Women. Participants provided the feedback that they were happy to see the root causes were included in the conversation about gender-based violence prevention, and that is what we do at Aura Freedom - address the root causes.
In January, we facilitated a human trafficking educational event with the Toronto Deltas. The participants and organizers found the session to be very informative, and participants appreciated the intersectional approach to anti-trafficking work. They had shared comments such as:
"This is very important information, thank you for sharing the resources!"
and
"We need more conversations like these to take place in our communities."
We also want to share a pivotal addition to our Imagine Video Series - where we imagine a world free from violence against women. We know this does not impact women alone - but survivors, their families, their communities, and society as a whole. Our latest video targets sexual violence and I hope you will agree it is an impactful addition to our wider Relentless Resilience movement.
We are so grateful for your support and your donations towards preventing human trafficking by addressing root causes and supporting our youth. There is no measure to the extent of the impact of your generosity as we rally together towards this cause - thank you for being such an integral part of this journey.
With gratitude and solidarity,
Danielle Warren
