End Nigeria's Cybercrime with Youth Business Grant

Project Report | Dec 12, 2025
Update on youth business grant to curb cybercrime

By Ugbede-Ojo Dominic Kadiri | Project Leader

Dear respected donors,

Thank you for your support of the project aimed at ending youth cybercrime in Nigeria through business training and grants. While the funds received so far are not sufficient to start full implementation, your contribution helps highlight the urgent need for safe income alternatives for vulnerable youth.

Thousands of unemployed Nigerian youth turn to cybercrime, including romance scams, identity theft, and online fraud, to pay medical bills, provide for families, or cope with personal losses. Many have experienced tragedies, such as losing parents due to unpaid healthcare, which pushes them into illegal activities. These crimes not only harm victims worldwide but also damage Nigeria’s economy and global reputation. Without intervention, the cycle of poverty and crime continues.

Once fully funded, this project will select 3,500 at-risk youth and train them in business skills, leadership, and entrepreneurship. Mentorship and incubation programs will guide participants in establishing legitimate ventures. Each youth will receive a start-up grant to launch a business, allowing them to generate sustainable income legally and avoid engaging in cybercrime.

The long-term impact of the project is substantial. Youth who gain stable income will be able to support their families, employ others, and contribute positively to local economies. Success stories from participants will inspire peers to pursue lawful paths, reducing cybercrime at the community level. Over time, safer communities and stronger economic participation will improve both local development and Nigeria’s reputation internationally.

We sincerely appreciate your early support. Every donation brings us closer to giving 3,500 young Nigerians a chance to earn honestly, rebuild their lives, and replace illegal activity with productive enterprise.

Warm regards,
Ugbede-Ojo Dominic Kadiri
