Open defecation remains a major public health challenge in many rural parts of Ghana due to poverty, inadequate sanitation infrastructure, and limited hygiene awareness. The practice contaminates water sources, spreads diseases such as cholera and diarrhea, and increases health risks for children and vulnerable populations. Poor sanitation also affects dignity, safety, and community wellbeing.
