Dear supporters,
Thank you for your continued support of Rotary’s “End Polio Now” campaign. Rotary and our partners in the Global Polio Eradication Initiative are very grateful for your contributions. We are making significant strides in global polio eradication and have some exciting updates to share with you.
Rotary continues to work to raise awareness and much-needed funds for polio eradication, through our network of 1.2 million volunteers in 200 countries and regions. Funding is key, and requires urgent action by those who already support the initiative as well as all government and private sector donors.
Rotary is working with our network of Rotary club members in polio-affected and high risk countries to develop and implement a checklist to enhance the impact of polio immunization teams. This checklist for polio immunization teams would ensure standardization across the program.
Currently, the polio case count half of what it was at the same time last year.
Year to date 2010: 561
Year to date 2011: 274
Tremendous progress has been made in India, and is on track to interrupt transmission of polio this year. More than 6 months have passed since the last polio case (13 January).
Thank you once again for your generosity as we work to “End Polio Now.” Your support will help us to rid the world of this dreaded disease once and for all.
