Dear Supporters and Prayer Partners,
UPDATES ON COMPLETE SHUTDOWN AS COVID19 PANDEMIC ESCALATES IN-NAIROBI
With the declaration of the COVID-19 pandemic. One person has succumbed to corona-virus today afternoon, he died at Aga Khan Hospital Nairobi, yet little is done to save the vulnerable persons in our society. Our team at Kenya Christian School For The Deaf has worked tirelessly to sensitize the deaf community on COVID19 pandemic for them to stay at home, and respond swiftly to prioritize their health and safety.
We are calling people of goodwill, supporters and prayer partners to provide emotional support for the COVID19 situation and other worries we’re facing at this uncertain period of mankind's history.
We will continue educating the deaf community about key COVID19 hygiene practices and social distancing as a way of saving their lives. We plan to ensure they do not miss out on our educational life skills video conference workshops and other online talks. As well as empower family and community Ambassadors who are deaf to lead deaf persons at this time.
We know that there is not one single person that is not currently affected by the outbreak of COVID-19. We know that you understand our anxiety and worry about the future. We have 250,000 an estimate deaf population in Nairobi and its environs
However, times like this are when we come together figuratively of course! and can make a real change. For the safety of our supporters, staff, and students we have had to temporarily close our vocational training center and other outreach. Unfortunately, this will have a direct impact on our training programs which has been postponed for safety matters.
Appeal! For hand sanitizers, soaps N95 masks, and food stuff. Please consider telling your friends and families about our project by sharing the link to our GlobalGiving project on social media, or just bring us up in conversation. We’d love to hear the story about why you’ve picked our project.
