NEGLIGENCE POVERTY ASSOCIATED COVID-19 KILLS

By Charles Ngiela | Director

Dear Partners & Friends,

In the face of COVID19 Pandemic, our world has drastically changed becoming a strange place for human beings to settle in than it was a couple of weeks ago. But even as we adapt to weather of this crisis, certain things remain unchanged. While COVID-19 spreads like a bush fire, families fighting extreme poverty in Kenya are at risk.

Yesterday I had the opportunity to attend a family burial arrangement of one of the KCSD beneficiaries who succumb to death as a result of coronavirus complicated illness while the immediate family was in denial.

What disturbs me most as a guest, was that I witnessed negligence of the highest order when I discovered that the family had slaughtered a cow for mourners to feast on contrary to government directives. Our people will perish if urgent measures are not taken immediately to educate them.  The photo below shows meat kept in a kitchen awaiting the arranged cooks to come over!

The importance of looking after our communities. The need for Open-hearted individuals/organizations to act and to help the most vulnerable amongst is needed now.

The necessity of hope never changed, our mission remains to educate, inspire and empower hearing-impaired children and the youth to make their lives better.

While you continue to keep your loved ones safe, I urge every member of our family to contribute whatever you can to prevent a growing catastrophe for vulnerable deaf children and their families in Kenya.

Right now, in the most fragile communities across Kenya far too many:

Families don’t know how to protect themselves from this pandemic.

Deaf children and adults don’t have access to clean water to wash their hands.

Health care workers are treating sick patients with no masks, no gloves, no training, and no medical equipment!

However, as the world is coming to grips with the Corona outbreak, we all have our strategies for adapting to our changing health needs, this experience is going to give us the resilience to maintain social distancing and isolation for our safety.

Your urgently needed gift today will:

Quickly send staff door to door interpreters to teach families how to protect themselves through handwashing, sanitation, and social distancing.

Install handwashing stations in more communities and improve access to clean water.

Rush critically needed supplies to keep patients and heroic health care workers safe

GIVE NOW TO SAVE LIVES at http://goto.gg/34834

Thanking you again for your steadfast commitment to our work of advancing justice!
