Empowering Minds in School and Community

By Rustica Tembele | Project Leader

We've achieved significant progress in supporting the well-being of our community. We recently conducted a refresher training for the incredible elderly women who lead weekly interpersonal and group talk therapy sessions. These sessions have now reached 182 people. The refresher training was an essential step in reinforcing their skills and introducing new strategies to help them continue their vital work in providing mental health support that's so crucial for our community's fabric.

Furthermore, we had the opportunity to train new students joining the Form 5 cohort, arming them with vital mental health literacy. This training is a cornerstone of our initiative to cultivate mental health awareness and understanding from an early age, creating a nurturing and informed school environment. By equipping these young minds with the necessary tools to manage their mental health and advocate for the well-being of their peers, we're not only addressing immediate needs but also investing in a future where mental health is prioritized and destigmatized. Our dual focus on empowering both the current generation of caregivers and the next generation of students is central to our mission of fostering a more mentally healthy and supportive community.
