Dear Sponsor,

Our country is faced with dangerous climate change disasters, this includes landslides, flood's, mainly in eastern Uganda, Mt Elgon sub-regions as a result many people have died, property lost and thousands displaced.

Disasters in Uganda.

From 1900 to 2018, the country has encountered 20 floods, 40 epidemic, 9 drought, and 5 landslides events. The accumulative damages caused by those natural disasters amounts to over 200,000 deaths and at least $80 million economic loss.

What areas are most affected by natural hazards in Uganda?

Uganda is at risk to natural disasters. The country experiences extreme weather events which lead to mudslides, landslides and flooding, particularly for the country's mountain regions and related districts such as Mbale in the Mt Elgon region.

Landslides, flood's in Uganda.

The areas where landslides have occurred are Ruwenzori, Mount Elgon and the Kigezi region. These regions have high populations which makes them high risk areas.

What are the causes of landslides in Uganda?

The main landslide types [in Uganda] are debris slumps, which occur on concave slopes where water concentrates. Slopes facing northeast are most prone to landslides, which coincide with the dominant rainfall direction.

What are the effects of a landslide?

The impact of a landslide can be extensive, including loss of life, destruction of infrastructure, damage to land and loss of natural resources. Landslide material can also block rivers and increase the risk of floods.

Government efforts.

After a 2010 landslide in the same district, which killed over 150 people, the government developed a plan to resettle 100,000 people from high-risk areas nationwide and protect communities from future tragedies through mechanisms such as early warning systems.

Bududa mudslide victims get permanent houses.

15 Jan 2021 — Victims of the 2010 mudslides in Bududa District who were relocated to Kiryandongo have received permanent houses.

SHARE NGO efforts.

As an organization, we are determined to help by planting more tree's in the affected region of Mt Elgon and surrounding areas, we have started with a group of 100 Youth, secondary school students.

The Youth with the help of their teachers, (Tree Planting Coordinator's) Peter and Sarah also Youth have started a tree nursery with over one million trees seedlings. The tree nursery is in Pallisa district, about 100 km away from the serious disaster affected regions of Mt Elgon, Mbale.

Problem.

The challenge here is, much as the Youth Volunteers would like to plant trees to help address the challenge of climate change in Mt Elgon sub-regions, they do not have the funds, facilities, enough tools and protection, and uniforms to effectively participate in this effort.

Take a look at this Breaking News, how flood's killed many people in Eastern Uganda.

Effects on the community.

The farmer's have been affected, and many households, families do not have what to eat and money to support, send thier kids to school as a result the children have gone to the streets, leaving a life of hell.

Mbale Disaster's affected, both humans and animals, homes were washed down, some people who survived had not been the area at the time of the disaster. That's how lucky they were, on return they find that, the home and everything in it, wife and children have all died. Very painful experience.

Health Care, Disaster Management.

Government has tried to offer counseling services but this can not bring back loved one's, the only way, long term solutions it to join our Youth tree planting program for an early solution to contain the next disaster in the future.

Long term Solutions!

We àppeal for all people of good will to join us and support the Youth Volunteers trees Planting Program to help bring Hope and reduce the effects of climate change in the affected region.

Since the start of this Appeal, we have not got any interest, funds specifically to help our Youth, tree planting program in Uganda.

We need tool's like hoes, pangas, slashers, spades, wheel Barrow's, gumboots, overalls, t-shirt, caps for the Youth Volunteers. All these are not costly items, Google and we the prices of those items in Uganda market.

Program Support! Mobility.

Our initiative would need bicycles for youth to carry tree seedlings to distant sites, places where we can not push a wheel Barrow's for long distance and a pickup truck to tree planting sites Mt Elgon sub-regions.

Conclusion.

Give us your support today and help us save lives of vulnerable people, this is better than waiting for a disasters to hit and then start running around with aid to help survivors.

How about the dead what solutions do we offer, it's better to take action now and prevent death than to spend after, Danger has taken many lives.

International Volunteers are welcome to Uganda work with our community and Tree planting program, Youth Volunteers.

Thank you so much for your time and appreciation.
