So far this year we have hosted 75 children, raised/released various animals, including squirrels, dassies and birds, and done wonderful things at the schools with our Daktari Outreach Programme. All of this was made possible by YOU! It's because of our sponsors and donors that we are able to continue with the amazing work that we do here at Daktari, and this is where you can help us again... on March 14th GlobalGiving will match all donations, so if you were thinking of donating to Daktari, please do it on Wednesday 14th March.
If a loved one has a birthday coming up, why not donate to Daktari in their name using the gifts function? Remember to tell your friends and family about this great opportunity to help a wonderful cause :o)
Now for a brief animal update...
Shiloweni, our Leopard had a check up from the vet in January, while he was asleep the volunteers cleaned his camp as the children watched from the viewing deck. Then, when we were given the all clear by the Vet we brought the children into the camp to touch and get their picture taken with the huge sleeping leopard! It was an amazing experience for everyone involved, and Shiloweni was given a clean bill of health :o)
Our donkey Sunny gave birth to a beautiful baby boy named Shady in February, he is such a little cutie, and he comes running for cuddles whenever he sees people :o)
We hand raised two orphaned Buffalo Weavers who now sleep in our Lapa and constantly fly around and land on our heads chirping until the children give them some worms!
Look out for the next exciting update from Daktari!
Thank you for your support,
The Daktari Team :o)
