Progress & Impact Report

By Dancan Okaka | Founder / Chief Executive Officer

P – The Problem

Many young mothers in our community face unemployment, lack of financial literacy, and limited access to opportunities. Without business knowledge or capital, they struggle to provide for their families, perpetuating cycles of poverty and dependency.

O – The Opportunity

By equipping young mothers with entrepreneurship and business management skills, through our imara na biashara program ,we are  creating  a pathway to sustainable livelihoods. Empowered mothers not only uplift their families but also become role models, leaders, and contributors to community growth.

W – What We Have Done

  • Identified 10 young mothers  out of our initially target of 3000 across our target communities.

  • Launched a 1-month business skills training program, covering:

    • Financial literacy & savings

    • Business planning & bookkeeping

    • Marketing & customer service

    • Digital tools for small business

  • Distributed training manuals and materials to all participants.

  • Rolled out mentorship support, pairing mothers with local business leaders.

E – Evidence / Current Progress

  • Training is ongoing – young mothers are actively participating, forming self-help groups, and practicing business ideas.

  • Mindset shift already visible – participants are showing increased confidence and readiness to start businesses.

  • Community engagement – local leaders and partners have expressed support for scaling the initiative.

R – Roadmap (Next Steps)

  • Phase 2: Funding & Business Start-up

    • Provide access to seed funding and link participants with microfinance institutions.

    • Support mothers in establishing small enterprises and cooperative businesses.

  • Sustainability Strategy

    • Continuous mentorship and refresher trainings.

    • Building savings groups and business networks for long-term growth.

  • Impact Goal

    • 10 empowered mothers running businesses.

    • Improved household income and reduced poverty levels.

    • A ripple effect of empowerment across the wider community
