From all of us here at Project Harar we would like to thank you for your donation towards this Anaesthetists Monitor which will be used on our Annual Complex Missions to Ethiopia. This monitor will enable our international team to provide safer surgeries to all our beneficiaries as they undergo life changing facial surgery.
We have successfully received the remaining funding needed for this monitor through an anonymous donor interested in helping our medical team. Without you support and donations this may not have been the case and we are very grateful.
Our monitor will help beneficiaries such as Geremew, pictured below.
Geremew came to us during our 2015 Complex Mission with a growth on the left side of his nose that had been growing for four years. At 13 years old he eventually dropped out of school because he was being bullied by his classmates and rarely took part in community events. His father was becoming increasingly concerned for his son’s physical and mental health. Project Harar’s outreach team found Geremew and his father and brought them to Addis where our medical volunteers were able to remove the mass, transforming Geremew’s face completely. When we last saw Geremew he was very excited to finally go back to school and enjoy cultural events with the rest of his family.
An Update on our Complex Mission 2016:
The dates have now been finalised for next year's mission, which will be taking place between 5th June and end of July with the two surgical weeks happening between 20th June and 1st of July.
The planning and preparations for the mission are underway, our volunteer medical team are being put together and vital equipment is being sorted for delivery to Ethiopia, including this monitor! Each of the volunteers will be raising £1,000 towards their trip over the coming months, their fundraising will cover the cost of their trip so all other donations go straight to helping our beneficiaries received the best treatment we can offer them.
If you are interested in finding out more about our Complex Mission and how your support towards this monitor will help children and young people like Geremew access safer surgeries, please do not hesitate to contact us.
