Evening Class support for marginalized learners

Summary

Many children and young adults in Nigeria are unable to attend school due to poverty, family responsibilities, or work obligations. This project will provide evening classes for 500 marginalized learners, offering instruction in literacy, numeracy, and life skills. Classes will include study materials, mentorship, and a safe learning environment. By providing education outside normal school hours, learners can continue their studies without giving up work or household responsibilities.

Challenge

In Nigeria, many learners drop out of school due to poverty, family responsibilities, or lack of access to local schools. Evening work or household duties force young people to miss class, leaving them without basic literacy and numeracy skills. Limited adult education opportunities and overcrowded classrooms worsen the problem, reducing their future employment prospects and ability to improve family income. Without extra support, these learners remain behind, limiting personal & community growth.

Solution

The project provides evening classes designed to fit learners' schedules, allowing them to continue education while attending to daily responsibilities. Classes cover literacy, numeracy, and basic life skills, with study materials and mentorship. Learners receive guidance to stay motivated, complete lessons, and develop confidence. By offering instruction after normal school hours, this program ensures learners can progress academically without giving up income or family duties.

Long-Term Impact

Educated learners have higher employment prospects & the ability to contribute to household income.Literacy and numeracy skills improve participation in local economies & access to better jobs.Families benefit as educated children can help with household decision-making & future generations' schooling.Later on, communities gain a more skilled population, lowering poverty rates & improving quality of life.Evening classes also create a culture of learning that can extend to other marginalized group
