In the past four months since the previous update we have had 17 vegetable distributions to our 400 mothers and fathers in the Club de Madres and Padres. Each Friday, half of our 400 mothers and fathers pass for their five or six bags full of vegetables and other foods.
Our Donations department works extremely hard to collect all these vegetables, pizzas and other items from various different locations all around Guatemala, often collecting, carrying and loading them all by hand.
So far since our last update we have handed out over 60,000 lbs. (27,216 kg) of vegetables, fruits, sauces and other items to our families. This includes over 12,000 lbs. (5443 kg) of mange tout, over 9000 lbs. (4082 kg) of green beans and over 6000 lbs. (2722 kg) of carrots. As well as the 60,000 lbs. of food, we have also given out over 3000 pizzas and 1980 breadsticks as well as 416 bags of maseca flour for tortillas and 375 litres of Coca-Cola to our families since the last update.
Last week we also had our second donation of 200 hamburgers from Wendy’s this year to give out to the children of our Mothers Club and from our Sponsorship Programme. They were extremely excited to receive the food as many had not yet had a chance to eat that day.
“It was delicious. I liked the taste. I was very happy to receive it.” - Brayan
“Thank you for the hamburgers. I liked them." - Allison
It is thanks to your support that the GOD’S CHILD Project and Nuestros Ahijados are able to continue to give this food support to the families of our Programme. The GOD’S CHILD Project has been working for 30 years to break the chains of poverty through education, housing, nutrition and healthcare.
