Thank you for supporting this vital project. As COVID-19 continues to spread across communities and 24.7% of the population of Kericho county are full vaccinated, there is a long road ahead and the first line of defence continues to be soap and water. This pandemic highlights how important it is that everyone, everywhere has access to their basic needs.
During 2021, this project supported the protection of four water spring sources benefiting 9,655 people ensuring access to clean, safe water.
Over the past two months, volunteers from new communities have been selected and are undergoing training to become community health volunteers. Part of this training is promoting the use of a tippy tappy as part of a healthy homestead and demonstrating correct handwashing techiniques. A tippy tappy is any type of container that can hold water and tip so the water pours out for handwashing - just like a 'tap' but without the plumbing. The container is kept filled with water and this is the main means for households, schools and businesses to provide handwashing facilites.
If you would like to donate again to this project - the next match funding campaign with GlobalGiving is on April 4th to 8th when all donations up to $50 will be match at 50% - and did you know that all new monthly donations will have their first donation matched at 100% after four total payments?
Thank you so much for your support of this very basic need.
