Give school & love to abandoned girls in Mexico

Hey there,

How are you? Today I would like to play a game with you! Are you ready?

So …let’s start! As you know, today is Giving Tuesday. The day to give. However, I’m not here only to ask for money. I don’t want, dear donor, just to tell you what to do and why to do it. I really want to play a game: we want us to IMAGINE together. Do you want to work with me for a better world? If you are reading these few lines, I’m sure it is so.

Well, here in Puerta Abierta we started to dream about 13 years ago and ever since we have never stopped. Since then, we have loved many little Mexican girls; some of them have already grown into women, wonderful women whom thanks to you are reaching their dreams. Others are growing up with difficulty and pain but are still believing that things can change for better.

Personally I think Giving Tuesday is a day in which people should imagine all together how to find a way to help someone else. Because if all the world acted like a chain, imagining to being close to every other person living on the earth probably everything would be easier.

Please, dear donor, start playing with me: IMAGINE!!!!

Imagine: what would happen if today you tried to smile to the stranger crossing the street?

What would happen if you shared your meal with the homeless living on the corner of your house? What would happen if you tried to smile to the difficulties instead of being angry all day long?

What would happen if you thought that YOU can REALLY MAKE A DIFFERENCE?

Dear donor, positive thinking is the element that, together with your help, has helped us to keep on going with this life project called Puerta Abierta IAP; therefore today I just want you to imagine the sun, the light, love and energy. I just want you to live in a different way today.

Here in Puerta Abierta we want to send you our blessings and our positive energy; we would like to know you’re having a wonderful day. We decided to spend this giving Tuesday trying to give you back all that you have given us in the past. So … we would like to ask you: HOW DO YOU FEEL? HOW IS YOUR LIFE?

If we just could meet it would be easier, because we would offer you a piece of chocolate cake and  a hot coffee, and then we would invite you to sit on our little sofa and we would listen to you, to your words and your silences. But please IMAGINE being here with us (please google chocolate abuelita, it is the most famous and yummy here in Mexico.. smells like cinnamon.. we’re cooking this chocolate for you!)

We are just twelve lovely girls living in a children´s home and dreaming of building our life out of education and love. We just want to give voice to those people – you donors – who every day help us to fly in the adventure of life. That’s way this time we want to make a challenge and see if we can reach you in some way: please write us a letter, just saying hello or even use us as your secret diary. We will be really pleased and delighted to read about you and to answer you ..You can tell us anything you want, we will take care of your feelings and we will try to make you smile.
