Report on family futures programme

By Mohammed Sayem | Project leader

Due to extreme poverty, families are compelled to send their children to work merely to survive. At UKBET, we recognize that breaking this cycle of poverty demands more than just financial support—it calls for a holistic approach that empowers families to build sustainable livelihoods. Our Community teachers help those families identify promising enterprises, provide micro-grants, and offer ongoing support to ensure their success. Through this, we empower families to meet essential needs, break free from poverty, and secure education for their children.

Programme Overview:

Our program zeroes in on helping families discover enterprises that match their skills and experiences, guaranteeing a dependable and sustainable income. We closely collaborate with each family, guiding them to select the optimal business venture for their future.

Micro-grant Allocation:

To ensure a tangible impact, we grant micro-funds specifically for acquiring the necessary resources to kickstart their business. Our field workers not only provide guidance but also instil confidence, aiding families in thriving.

Lifeline for Families:

Micro-grants serve as a lifeline for impoverished families, elevating their income to afford basic necessities and enabling their children to attend school instead of working.

Social and Welfare Support:

Beyond financial aid, we deliver continuous business support, training, and welfare assistance, addressing the various challenges families may encounter.

Impact and Achievements:

Our program has transformed the lives of 356 families, elevating them from poverty and ensuring their children receive an education.

Case Study:

Meet Helena Akhtar (Not real name), an 11-year-old with a strong desire to study despite facing challenges. In a family of two sisters, they initially struggled as their mother, despite being disabled, worked hard at home. Financial difficulties led them to make Helena (Not real name), work day and night instead of going to school. Recognizing her potential, UKBET stepped in, helping Helena's father (Not real name), start a vegetable business. Now, with financial stability, Helena (Not real name), is going to school soon, leaving behind household work. Her mother is seeking disability support, and the family's situation has significantly improved. Helena (Not real name), is thrilled to join school, guided by her teacher, Dipali Chowdhury (Not real name).

Future Goals:

Our aim is to support 120 this year, assisting them in establishing sustainable businesses that shatter the cycle of poverty..

Conclusion:

Your ongoing support is vital in empowering families to break free from poverty. Join us in turning dreams into reality for families in need. Share our project with friends and family to unleash an unstoppable force of change. Together, we can compose a compelling story of transformation.
