Dear Donors,
Since 2008 Aleimar has been committed to helping the most fragile families and children in the Kenyan County of Embu, in the parish of Nginda. In previous reports we told the birth of this project and how Aleimar has started collaborating with the local representatives on the field. We shared the experience of Sister Felicita, who was the first to describe the difficult situation in which many children lived in the neighborhood. Thanks to her deep knowledge of the local needs and thanks to her reference role for the local population, she understood that she could create a positive impact working with the community and charity organizations. At this point the paths of Sister Felicita and Aleimar met. She involved 5 families and 17 women in this new project aimed at supporting the most vulnerable children of the area, providing food, healthcare, a safe shelter and the possibility to attend school.
After 15 years of work, the children supported are now boys and girls, they have completed their studies and some of them have already started some income-generating activities. Their independence makes us feel proud of what they have achieved and we really hope that they will become the reference point for the new children of parish of Nginda. Witnessing the independence of the recipients helped during the last years, Aleimar has chosen to close this project. Undoubtedly, we will keep in touch with our local representative Sister Felicita and we will be always ready to reactivate a special support if there will be the necessity.
Now Aleimar’ actions in Kenya do not stop and our organization will increase its engagement in order to support the children and the community of Kilifi District (in the South-East of Kenya) with a project aimed at improving food security and good environmental practices. All of you could read more about this project at this link.
We want to thank all the donors that in these last years have donated to this project and that have decided to support our children in Kenya! We hope that all of you will keep supporting our projects on GlobalGiving.
Thank you!
