For some orphaned children, Father's Day can be a painful reminder of the father they have lost or never had. Father's Day: Give an Orphan a Day of Fatherly Love will bring caring adults together with orphaned children for a special day of gifts, companionship, encouragement and parental guidance. The project will give each child a day filled with attention, kindness and the feeling of being cared for.
For a child who has lost a father or grown up without parental care, Father's Day can bring painful feelings of loss and loneliness. UNICEF reports that children without parental care in Nigeria face increased risks of neglect, violence, exploitation and poverty. In 2026, 8.4 million people, including 5 million children, need humanitarian assistance in northern Nigeria. Many vulnerable children have little access to the care, guidance and affection a parent can provide.
Every Father's Day and Children's Day in Nigeria, this project will bring caring adults together with orphaned children for a special Father's Day experience. Children will receive gifts, companionship, encouragement and age-appropriate parental guidance. The day will give children a chance to feel cared for, listened to and remembered, creating a positive memories around a day that can otherwise remind them of loss. These activities take place every Father's & Children's Day until fully funded.
This project will give orphaned children positive memories of Father's Day and Children's Day while providing gifts, companionship, guidance and care. As the project continues each time, more children across Nigeria can experience these special days with caring adults around them. Continued support can help us reach thousands of children and make these moments of care part of their lives.
