Meet Dida

Dida's family struggles to have just one meal each day in the evening. Dida lives with both parents and his siblings, his parents struggle to find casual work on a daily basis. The lack of food at home is what first brought Dida to Turning Point, he was drawn by the daily provision of breakfast and lunch.

The World Food Programme reports that the provision of breakfast or lunch at school can solve the problem of poor concentration due to hunger and the availability of food enhances attendance rates significantly. Our experience in Kibera supports this, we consistently find that our daily feeding programme not only attracts children like Dida to our programmes but also ensures that they keep coming each day and that they are able to focus and work hard in class.

We are grateful to all our supporters who have partnered with us this year to provide daily meals to kids in Kibera. For children like Dida, who would otherwise only receive one meal a day, it is making a big impact. Thank you.
