The worsening hunger crisis in Karamoja, northeastern Uganda, is placing thousands of vulnerable families at risk, with children, pregnant women, and breastfeeding mothers bearing the greatest burden. The latest figures shared in this report indicate that 673,000 people are experiencing Crisis-level food insecurity or worse, including approximately 118,000 people facing Emergency conditions. These figures represent more than statistics; they reflect families struggling to secure their next meal and children whose health, growth, and future are threatened by hunger.
The Girl Child Foundation Uganda (GIFU) is raising awareness of this humanitarian emergency and appealing to donors, development partners, governments, businesses, and compassionate individuals to help bring hope to affected communities. When households cannot afford food, children become especially vulnerable to malnutrition, illness, and disrupted education.
We cannot allow hunger to silence the dreams of Karamoja’s children. Every contribution can help strengthen efforts to reach vulnerable families with food assistance and essential nutrition support.
Through GlobalGiving, GIFU invites supporters across Uganda, Africa, and the world to stand in solidarity with the people of Karamoja. Your generosity can help turn compassion into action and remind struggling families that they have not been forgotten.
Donate today. Help us reach Karamoja’s hungry families and give vulnerable children a chance to grow, learn, and thrive.
