Across Karamoja in northeastern Uganda, hunger is threatening the well-being of families already struggling with poverty, crop losses, and rising food costs. The figures presented in the latest assessment shared for this report indicate that 673,000 people are facing Crisis-level food insecurity or worse, while approximately 118,000 people are experiencing Emergency conditions.
For families affected by this crisis, finding enough food has become a daily struggle. Parents face painful decisions about how to stretch limited supplies, while children are particularly vulnerable to the consequences of inadequate nutrition. Pregnant and breastfeeding women also face heightened risks when nutritious food is unavailable or unaffordable.
The Girl Child Foundation Uganda (GIFU) is appealing to compassionate individuals, businesses, humanitarian organizations, and development partners to help bring greater attention to this emergency. We believe that communities facing severe hunger should not have to struggle in silence while the world looks away.
Through GlobalGiving, we invite supporters to become part of a collective effort to mobilize assistance for vulnerable households in Karamoja.
Your generosity can help support efforts to provide emergency food relief and essential nutrition assistance to families in need.
Together, we can turn international concern into meaningful action. Stand with Karamoja today and help restore hope to families facing hunger.
