Behind Karamoja's growing hunger crisis are mothers struggling to provide food for their children while managing their own nutritional needs. Prolonged drought, crop failures, and rising food costs are making it increasingly difficult for vulnerable households to secure balanced meals. For pregnant and breastfeeding women, inadequate nutrition can create additional health concerns for both mothers and their babies.
When household food supplies become insufficient, caregivers often face difficult decisions about how to distribute what remains. These pressures can affect the entire family, particularly young children who depend on adequate nutrition for healthy growth and development.
The Girl Child Foundation Uganda (GIFU) is appealing to donors and humanitarian partners to help bring attention to the nutritional challenges facing vulnerable families in Karamoja. We believe that mothers and children should not be left without support during a food emergency intensified by prolonged dry conditions.
Through GlobalGiving, supporters can help raise awareness and mobilize resources for appropriate food assistance and nutrition interventions.
Your compassion can help strengthen the response to hunger and remind struggling mothers that their communities have not forgotten them. Stand with Karamoja today and help protect the well-being of its most vulnerable families.
