Dear Partners,
Elderly people are often among the most overlooked during food insecurity crises. Many older persons depend on family support, community care, or small income sources that may become unreliable during economic hardship. When food prices rise, elderly people can face serious challenges in accessing nutritious meals.
Across northern Nigeria, hunger affects people of all ages, but elderly individuals may be especially vulnerable because of health conditions, reduced mobility, and limited earning opportunities. Good nutrition is essential for maintaining strength, preventing illness, and preserving dignity in old age.
Empower Future Initiative believes that food security efforts must include elderly people and other vulnerable groups. Supporting household nutrition helps ensure that older persons are not left behind during times of crisis.
A compassionate community protects every generation. By strengthening food security, communities can uphold dignity, care, and inclusion for elderly people who have contributed so much throughout their lives.
Best wishes,
Empower Future Initiative Team
