Dear Partners,
Nutrition monitoring is one of the most important ways to protect children during a food insecurity crisis. When families are struggling to access food, children may show early signs of malnutrition before the situation becomes severe. Identifying these signs early can help prevent long-term harm.
Across northern Nigeria, many children face risks linked to poor diet, illness, displacement, and household poverty. Regular attention to child nutrition helps communities understand which children are most vulnerable and what kind of support is needed. It also helps families receive guidance on feeding practices, health referrals, and available community resources.
Empower Future Initiative recognizes that protecting children requires more than responding after hunger becomes visible. It requires awareness, prevention, and timely community action. Nutrition monitoring supports healthier growth, stronger immunity, and better educational outcomes.
Every child deserves the chance to grow with strength, dignity, and opportunity. Monitoring nutrition helps ensure that children are not forgotten during difficult times.
Best wishes, Empower Future Initiative Team
