Dear Supporters,
Rural families are often close to food production, yet many still experience hidden hunger. Hidden hunger occurs when people may eat enough to reduce immediate hunger but do not receive the vitamins, minerals, and balanced nutrition needed for good health.
Across northern Nigeria, rural households can face limited market access, high food prices, poor harvests, insecurity, climate shocks, and reduced income opportunities. These challenges can make nutritious diets difficult to maintain, especially for children, pregnant women, elderly people, and persons with disabilities.
Hidden hunger can affect child development, immunity, school performance, and adult productivity. Because it is not always obvious, it requires attention, awareness, and community-based nutrition support.
Empower Future Initiative believes that food security must include both quantity and quality of food. Healthy communities need meals that nourish the body, strengthen families, and support long-term resilience.
Addressing hidden hunger helps protect vulnerable families from silent but serious health challenges.
Best wishes, Empower Future Initiative Team
