Dear Donors,
Caregivers carry a heavy responsibility during times of food insecurity. Parents, grandparents, older siblings, and guardians often make sacrifices to ensure that children, elderly relatives, and vulnerable family members receive care. When food is scarce, this responsibility becomes even more stressful.
Across northern Nigeria, many caregivers are managing household needs under difficult conditions caused by rising prices, displacement, poverty, and limited livelihood opportunities. The pressure to provide meals can affect emotional well-being, physical health, and family stability.
Food security helps reduce this burden. When households have access to nutritious food, caregivers can focus more on nurturing, education, health, and long-term planning. Children benefit from more stable home environments, and elderly or vulnerable family members receive better support.
Empower Future Initiative recognizes caregivers as central to household resilience. Supporting food security strengthens their ability to care with dignity, patience, and hope.
Strong caregivers help build strong families, and strong families help build resilient communities.
Best wishes, Empower Future Initiative Team
