Hellen is a single mom with 3 children who lives in a tiny house with no running water and a dirt floor. She receives no financial support from the fathers of her children. She was not able to work as she had no one to care for her children. She and her children struggled with the basic necessities of life, like having enough food to eat, among other things.
Hellen learned of Arbol de Esperanza’s women’s empowerment program, applied, and was accepted. Arbol de Esperanza provides disadvantaged women with the tools and support they need to move forward in their lives: mental health support, human rights and life skills training, employment readiness and job skills training, and crisis support.
Community Action Alliance (CAA) understands that being food insecure is a hardship for anyone; and for those women in Arbol’s program who are trying to move forward, it is just one more significant challenge to be overcome. Consequently, as a result of the generosity of our donors, CAA is able to help by providing monthly financial contributions to Arbol for food support for women in need. Arbol works with a local grocery store to secure the food and then delivers it to the recipients.
As a result of Arbol’s program and CAA’s partnership with them, Hellen’s life has been changed for the better. She now has part-time employment, someone to help care for her children, healthy food for herself and her family, and hope for the future. And she eagerly expresses her thanks.
“I am very grateful to Arbol de Esperanza because their program completely changed my life, both with the emotional support and the different tools they gave me. Also thanks to Community Action Alliance as I received important food supplies which were of great help to my family as I am a single mother and was out of work at the time and felt like I couldn’t take it anymore. I hope both organizations can continue for a long time supporting and continuing to help more women like me.”
Many thanks to all of CAA’s generous donors who help us make a difference in the lives of women like Hellen. Your contributions are most sincerely valued and appreciated.
