Feed the poor and needy in Goa

Thank you for your support! We are truly grateful to all our donors who have supported us this year and every year, and who remain committed to supporting us going forward.

Over the past year, poverty has doubled in Goa. Since the onset of the pandemic, El Shaddai has been serving hot meals to the children and people from the street and marginalized people and has been distributing groceries for the poor and slum communities.  A lot of these people have been rendered jobless due to the pandemic and are left with little or no means to provide for their families. The second wave has hit the country again affecting hundreds of vulnerable families and children blazing into an unreluctant path across India. 

For the past three months, your contribution helped us to serve more than 50,000 hot meals, and distribute 800 grocery kits, for so far-reaching out to 52,000 people in this phase of the lockdown amounting to $44164. We were able to serve the most vulnerable in the state of Goa. 

We are covering 100% of the cities of Panjim, Mapusa, Calangute, Vasco, and Margao. Your support has enabled us to expand our operations beyond groceries and mid-day meals to night meals to the vulnerable. We have activated 3 kitchens in our shelters and our staff on the ground (keeping safety measures in mind) to deliver food.

We have increased 2 hot meals serving 700 meals every day to the children and people from the street and rolled out the grocery kits distribution to 250 kits to the slum families with one months’ ration. Each meal is a nutritional platter with healthy staples like rice, daal, egg, and vegetables. Grocery kits contain rice, spices, sugar, flour, oil, tea powder, etc.

Empowered by your continuous encouragement, your donations will enable us to serve a total of 12,000 meals per day across Goa at this critical hour.
