Bringing hope, one meal at a time.

By Julia Matthew | Managing Director

India, a land of diverse cultures and traditions, is also home to a paradoxical issue – food and hunger. While the country is known for its rich culinary heritage, it also grapples with the stark reality of hunger and malnutrition affecting a significant portion of its population.

Poverty, the most pervasive factor contributing to hunger in India, traps millions in a cycle of deprivation, making access to nutritious food a distant dream for many. The unequal distribution of resources further exacerbates the issue, as marginalized communities and rural areas often lack access to adequate food supplies.

With our day-to-day busy lives, we often forget that so many children and individuals often go to sleep on an empty stomach. We at El Shaddai have witnessed so many children and individuals living in sheer poverty in the slums and other poverty-stricken places.

With our motto “Zero Hunger”  El Shaddai has taken feeding initiatives like mid-day meals and "manna meals on wheels” where underprivileged children and individuals receive nutritious, warm, home-cooked, packed meals served by the El Shaddai outreach workers.

Food is distributed every day to 500 children and 700 men and women. All these people will have one less thing to worry about.

We have a story of a little boy named Ritesh(name changed) who used to beg for food at the railway tracks in south Goa. Many times he would end up without having a proper meal because he also had to share the food with his siblings.  One day our team member saw this boy crying and immediately rushed to his help. He is now attending our mid-day meal programme at our south Goa centre.  There are many children like these who we want to help and this is possible only with the love and generosity of kind-hearted people like you.

Please know that your donation will make a tangible difference and serve as a source of hope and inspiration for those we serve. Your generosity has touched our hearts and reaffirmed our belief in the power of community and compassion.

Thank you for your unwavering support. We are truly grateful for your kindness and generosity.

Yours Sincerely
