A documentary about love, survival, and the pets who remain family through it all
A documentary project from Feeding Pets of the Homeless.
This feature length documentary follows three people experiencing homelessness and the animals who never leave their side.
Together, their stories challenge perception and reveal a bond most people never see.
WHY THIS FILM MATTERS
The bond between people experiencing homelessness and their pets is often misunderstood.
This project allows those stories to be seen in a new way, helping to challenge stigma and expand understanding.
It also supports our broader efforts to:
• Increase awareness of the human-animal bond
• Advocate for pet-inclusive services and shelter options
• Reach new audiences beyond direct services
Across the country, demand for services continues to grow.
This film helps extend that impact beyond direct assistance, bringing visibility to the people and pets we serve.
Production and filming has started in Los Angeles, San Diego and soon in Carson City at the headquarters of Feeding Pets of the Homeless.
Grace Petro and Sydney Day (Junius Films) are a directing and producing duo with nearly a decade of experience in narrative storytelling, known for their hands-on, emotionally grounded approach to independent filmmaking. Having built their careers crafting character-driven stories from the ground up, they bring a cinematic lens and deep narrative structure to their work in the documentary space.
Their latest film (in partnership with Feeding Pets of The Homeless) will follow individuals experiencing homelessness and the animals who remain their constant companions, weaving together intimate, real-life stories of resilience, survival, and unconditional love. With this project, they aim not only to capture deeply human moments, but to elevate them into a larger conversation, one that challenges public perception, advocates for pet-inclusive shelter solutions, and mobilizes audiences toward tangible impact.
Blending their narrative expertise with real-world urgency, Grace and Sydney are committed to creating a documentary that resonates emotionally, travels widely, and drives meaningful change long after the credits roll.
