Dear GlobalGiving Community,
American Aid, an IRS-registered 501(c)(3) charitable organization, is working to address hunger among our unsheltered neighbours in the DC, Maryland, and Virginia (DMV) area through our 'Generosity Builds Hope' mission.
Campaign Vision & Status: • Total Campaign Goal: $500,000 (for community kitchen establishment) • Current Donations Received: $70 • Number of Donors: 2 • Campaign Timeline: 4 months remaining
Initial Impact: While at the early stages of our campaign (0.014% of target), we focused on immediate needs: • Distributed 20 hot meals during Thanksgiving • Reached individuals living without shelter in the DMV area • Provided dignified meal service on the streets • Identified areas of greatest need in our community
Street-Level Impact: Our Thanksgiving distribution specifically targeted individuals living without shelter, meeting them where they are - in doorways, near transit stations, and other locations where our unsheltered neighbours seek refuge. Each hot meal served represented not just nourishment but dignity and hope.
Looking Forward: Our planned community kitchen will provide: • Regular hot meals for unsheltered individuals • A welcoming space for our homeless neighbours • Consistent, reliable food security • Dignity through regular meal service
While this initial distribution helped meet immediate needs, we're committed to establishing a permanent solution through our community kitchen to consistently serve our unsheltered neighbours in the DMV area.
